The circular architecture of Rarity's room lends itself well to this cutaway style. Wanted to play around with mirror images, definitely harder than I thought. The lighting was interesting as well, since Rarity is backlit by the window, but the part that the light is hitting is also visible in the reflection. The floating scarf and shoes are all in darkness, but they looked rather plain so I added some shading using the outline color. Hopefully it looks okay, certainly gives me more to think about for future reference. I thought about adding more clothes but decided it looked too busy, I liked the simplicity it currently has.

Edit: Fixed a few minor things, gah I fail.

Okay! Time for another critique! So, the background cutout is great. The style of the room really works with the rounded shape of the background. I love the boots, and the scarves look fantastic. The mirror was done really well, showing the character while reflecting light. The pink viney things work great, and the checker is too. Now for the less fun part. The frame of the mirror looks a bit blurred. It seems to be a cardboard cutout. Perhaps more shiny? Rarity would obsess over things like that. The boots are a bit off. Shouldn't there be 4? And she looks a little tired when you ignore the reflection. Otherwise, everything is great! You got the Rarity look very well, and the window with the snow looks fantastic. The shadow on the floor is great too! All together, not your best, but definitely up there!

I love how you did the mirror and the window. May I get some advice on how you get that reflective light effect?

The reflective light is a clipping layer over the window layer. To make the effect its just quick swipes with a white brush, then I lowered the opacity. Pretty simple :)

Wait a minute...
That was from the season 3 premiere, when Rarity gets off the train and Spike is carrying her massive suitcase full of scarves. You submitted this back in October.

wait, does this count as rarity's winter painting? 'cause it doesn't look like quite the same style as you used on the other five . . . (and it's not outside, wait nevermind fluttershy is inside as well i guess)
